Understanding Children's Behavior A PITC Training Session
Format: 3 hour session, 30-40 participants
This session focuses on recognizing and understanding individual and developmental issues underlying the messages and behavior of infants and toddlers in group care. Concepts and training strategies for helping caregivers analyze and respond appropriately to infants and toddlers are introduced. Materials are distributed that support caregivers in recognizing the source of different infant/toddler behaviors and identifying appropriate strategies for working with them. Core concepts include:
· Understanding six stages of emotional development
· Supporting each child's developing sense of self and self regulation
· Knowing the role of the caregiver in supporting the emotional development of the child
· Chart for analyzing behavior
