PITC Graduate Conference 2008

August 2008

Dear Graduates,

Please join us for this year’s PITC Graduate Conference, October 22–24, 2008, at the Embassy Suites in South San Francisco, California.

The theme of this conference is “Reflecting on the Practice of Infant/Toddler Care and Education.” Our time together will offer many opportunities to reflect upon our current and future work, including presentations by Deb Curtis, Margie Carter, Jeree Pawl and Pilar Fort, in addition to our usual cast of characters, dialogue circles with PITC faculty, and poster sessions by PITC graduates.

Our first day will focus on issues of reflective practice. The second day will renew our use of “Dialogue Circles” with graduates engaging with faculty and other experts in small groups to discuss cutting edge issues. We will also have a plenary session that day dealing with “Toddlers, Boundaries, and Self.” The last morning, there will be a presentation on the day–to–day conditions of infants in other countries and our plan to expand PITC’s presence internationally. The final presentation will address “Infant Care and the Achievement Gap.”

A highlight of this year’s conference will be the unveiling of new infant/toddler learning and development materials from the California Department of Education, the Infant/Toddler Program Guidelines Workbook, and the Infant/Toddler Foundations DVDs.

And of course, because it is PITC, we will have an evening party.

I’m looking forward to seeing you this fall. Our time together should be fun and intellectually stimulating.

Sincerely yours,

Ron Lally
