PITC Graduate Conference 2013
It’s time again to get together at the PITC Graduate Conference. This year it is being held in Berkeley California, from October 30 to November 1, 2013, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Berkeley Marina.
Our conference, “A Part of the Family”, will focus on engaging and empowering families. One of the highlights will be a keynote with Dr. Joshua Sparrow, Director of Strategy, Planning and Program Development, at the Brazelton Touchpoints Center. Another will be exposure to a panel of distinguished authors, including Louise Derman-Sparks, Janet Gonzalez-Mena, and Alison Wishard-Guerra, discussing key concepts from the recently published PITC’s Infant/Toddler Caregiving: A Guide to Culturally Sensitive Care, 2nd Edition. Planned for the last day is a presentation by the Reflective Parenting Program of Los Angeles. Their presentation was quite a hit at the recent ZERO TO THREE Conference. As in the past, we will have a report on the state of infant/toddler care in California and on the progress of the For Our Babies campaign. We are also planning to have various programs share with you some of the innovative strategies they use to engage and empower families. Lastly, we have set aside some time this year so you can become familiar and discuss several of the new CDE materials that have been developed by WestEd over the past few years.
Along the way we will have a special ceremony commemorating the retirement of Janet Poole, catch up with each other, and celebrate Halloween. We are looking forward to seeing you. This is one of our favorite events, a great mix of learning and connection.
