For-fee webinar training sessions will be provided by WestEd PITC PARS Instrument Anchors in English, Spanish, and Chinese. These sessions will provide information for users about the three purposes for using the PITC PARS: 1) For study and reflection about quality indicators, 2) For use in coaching to inform practice, and 3) For evaluation and research.
 
A week-long in-person interrater reliability training will be available from WestEd PITC PARS Instrument Anchors in the future. This training will be available for-fee and is intended for those using the PITC PARS for research or evaluation purposes. This intensive training will occur in the field, with a maximum of 2 trainees per trainer.

 

 

Session 1 - PITC PARS Instrument Training

This session provides an orientation to the PITC PARS tool and a deep dive into the content and uses of the PITC PARS. Topics covered include: the three intended purposes of the tool; the components and resources available; how the tool is organized; and how to use the PITC PARS Instrument for observing, documenting, and reflecting on the essential aspects of infant/toddler group care—from caregiving interactions to the physical environment to program policies and administrative structures. Completion of Session 1 is required prior to registering for Sessions 2–6.

This session is appropriate for family child care educators, infant/toddler care teachers, administrators, coaches, trainers, and anyone who wants to learn about quality indicators for infant/toddler group care settings.

Each registered participant will receive a copy of the PITC PARS Instrument (in English, Spanish, traditional Chinese, or simplified Chinese) and detailed information for using the tool to support self-reflection and coaching in infant/toddler group care settings.

Cost: $300 per person, which includes a printed copy of the instrument.

Session 2 - Subscale I: Quality of Adult's Interactions with Children

The session dives deep into Subscale I and explores the responsiveness of individual teachers’ interactions with the infants and toddlers in their care. Topics covered include the key components and indicators of high-quality infant/toddler care in relation to this subscale. This session will also instruct participants in using the PITC PARS Instrument and Subscale I for observation and reflection.

This session is appropriate for family child care educators, infant/toddler care teachers, administrators, coaches, trainers, and anyone who wants to learn about quality indicators for infant/toddler group care settings and have completed Session 1: PITC PARS Instrument Training.

Each registered participant will receive a copy of the PITC PARS Subscale I. Quality of Adult’s Interactions with Children (in English, Spanish, traditional Chinese, or simplified Chinese) and detailed information for using this subscale to support self-reflection and coaching in infant/toddler group care settings.

The session dives deep into Subscale II and explores the extent to which caregiving practices, the care environment, and program policies are responsive to cultural and family practices as well as the unique needs of infants and toddlers. Topics covered include the key components and indicators of high-quality infant/toddler care in relation to this subscale. This session will also instruct participants in using the PITC PARS Instrument and Subscale II for observation and reflection.

This session is appropriate for family child care educators, infant/toddler care teachers, administrators, coaches, trainers, and anyone who wants to learn about quality indicators for infant/toddler group care settings and have completed Session 1: PITC PARS Instrument Training.

Topics covered include the key components and indicators of high-quality infant/toddler care in relation to this subscale. This session will also instruct participants in using the PITC PARS Instrument and Subscale III for observation and reflection.
