I am very passionate about the topic of child development and Infant/Toddler Mental Health. I truly enjoy teaching and learning from my students. I have a long history of teaching: In 1982 I began my teaching career working with adults with intellectual disabilities. As the field of early intervention began to develop I returned to school here at SDSU and received my Early Intervention Certificate. In 1994 I began teaching Special Education preschool. For the past 25 years I have been working as a Developmental Specialist for the San Diego School Districts Early Childhood Special Education program. I work with children with special needs form Birth to Three and their families. I work closely with families, teachers, and therapists to address the children's special needs and challenges. I also attended a program for Infant/Preschooler Mental Health and have been endorsed by the state as a Transdisciplinary Mental Health Specialist and Reflective Facilitator. Beginning in 2011 I joined the faculty at SDSU in the CFD department as a lecturer. I’m a mother of two beautiful children myself, and of course they have taught me the most about parenting and child development.
