Ms. Alma May, known fondly as May, is a newly certified PITC trainer and a dedicated early childhood professional committed to promoting transdisciplinary reflective practice. She currently serves as a Project Associate for the Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation (IECMHC) Network, where she provides infant and early childhood mental health consultation to early learning and care programs, family childcare providers, and family, friend, and neighbor caregivers throughout California. This indirect approach emphasizes building adult capacity to create nurturing environments and foster meaningful interactions that support children’s social and emotional development. Her specialty in reflective consultation involves thoughtfully exploring the feelings, experiences, and perspectives of the adults caring for young children, recognizing that lasting change occurs within the context of caring relationships.
With over 20 years of experience working with children from birth to age five—as a Special Education teacher, Behavior Consultant, and Childcare Director—May brings extensive expertise in early childhood education and is a passionate advocate for children with special needs. She holds degrees in Clinical Psychology, Special Education, and Early Childhood Education.

Beyond her professional work, May volunteers within her community, engaging in activities that support young children and youth. She deeply loves teaching and is dedicated to improving learning outcomes for children and families. As a full-time worker and mother, she values spending quality time with her husband and nearly 5-year-old daughter. Last year, May completed 7 half marathons and looks forward to participating in more races this year. Running has become a new passion—so much so that she has started collecting running shoes, celebrating her newfound love for the activity.
