In collaboration with the California Department of Social Services, Child Care and Development Division and local agencies, the Regional Support Network offers regional seminars on California's Infant/Toddler Learning & Development System.  The seminars focus on publications by the California Department of Education, Early Learning and Care Division and are designed to support continuous improvement efforts of infant/toddler programs.  The seminars will help participants to:

  • Understand the five components of the California Infant/Toddler Learning and Development System;
  • Understand the importance, characteristics, and benefits of high quality infant/toddler care;
  • Deepen knowledge of infant and toddler learning and development; and
  • Plan effective infant/toddler curriculum

This seminar will have a focus on infant and toddler learning and development. The foundations describe competencies infants and toddlers typically attain during the birth-to-three-year period. This seminar will help early care and education providers to Become familiar with the California Infant/Toddler Curriculum Framework as a means of supporting the ongoing cycle of observing, documenting, reflecting, and implementing appropriate curriculum.

California Infant/Toddler Leaning and Development Program Guidelines

This seminar will present information about how to provide high-quality early care and education, including recommendations for program policies, day-to-day practices, and the curriculum planning process that will improve program services to all infants and toddlers. Participants will explore and become familiar with CDE’s Infant/Toddler Program Guidelines, 2nd Edition as a resource to providing quality care in centers, family child care homes, in-home and family, friend and neighbor care settings.
