I am a certified elementary teacher with an early childhood endorsement. I wrote grants to the State of Iowa to fund a program for children "at risk" with an onsite preschool component and a home-based infant/toddler component. I worked as co-director at St. Paul's FOCUS for 20 years - an accredited, state-funded program. In 2009 I moved to be co-director of a child care program located within an alternative high school, Metro Parent Child Center. I manage a staff of six, teach Child Development and teach a dual enrollment class for high school students which allows them to receive college credit. I work primarily with teen parents. I've been teaching PITC for 20 years, contracted through Child Care Resource and Referral. I have taught the modules as a graduate college course and have taught separate modules for parents. I am a part of the Iowa network of PITC trainers.

I have a Masters of Education degree from the University of North Dakota and a Masters degree in counseling from Drake University. I am certified as a school counselor, have studied play therapy and am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC).

I am also an adjunct instructor of Early Childhood at Kirkwood Community College and teach a course titled "Infant Toddler Care and Education" using PITC materials and a textbook by Janet Gonzalez-Mena.
